LEGAL
Terms of Use
1. About Lawward
Lawward is operated by Azam Shafa, a sole trader trading as Lawward. The business and service address is 460 Alum Rock Road, Birmingham, B8 3HU, United Kingdom. General enquiries may be sent to hello@lawward.co.uk.
Lawward is a technology marketplace and general-information service that helps people structure a legal enquiry and may introduce them to an independent legal professional. Lawward is not a law firm, barristers’ chambers or your legal representative.
2. No legal advice from Lawward
Information, preparation guides, questions and urgency prompts on this website are general information only. They may be incomplete, out of date or incorrect. Using the website does not create a solicitor-client, barrister-client or other professional-client relationship and does not stop or extend any deadline.
3. Enquiries
You must provide accurate information that you are entitled to share. At the initial enquiry stage, do not send original documents, another person’s unnecessary personal information, medical details, information about ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, genetics or biometrics, or information about alleged or proven criminal offences. Lawward may ask you to remove or shorten information before it is considered for matching.
4. Manual matching
Lawward reviews enquiries manually. If a possible match is identified, limited matter information may be shared with an eligible professional. Contact details are shared only in line with the choices made in the enquiry. Lawward does not guarantee that a professional will be available, respond, accept an instruction or achieve an outcome.
5. Professional applications and verification
Professional applications are reviewed manually using the information supplied and relevant public professional registers. Lawward may request further evidence. Approval records checks completed at a point in time; it is not a guarantee of quality, suitability, current regulatory status or outcome. Lawward may reject, suspend or re-review an application.
6. Independent professionals
Professionals using Lawward remain independent. They are responsible for conflicts checks, competence, regulation, practising status, insurance, client care, confidentiality, fees, engagement terms and every service or item of advice they provide. You decide whether to instruct a professional and pay their legal fees directly under the professional’s own terms.
7. Professional memberships
Paid membership is available only after Lawward approves a professional application. The Professional plan costs £249 for one membership year and includes up to 12 accepted introductions. Professional Plus costs £399 for one membership year and includes up to 30 accepted introductions. Unlimited costs £599 for one membership year and has no annual cap on accepted introductions. The total payable and any applicable tax are shown by Stripe before payment.
An “accepted introduction” occurs when a professional accepts Lawward’s invitation to receive the identifying or contact details for one enquiry and Lawward releases those details. Membership does not guarantee enquiries, instructions, income or any minimum value of work.
8. Renewal, cancellation and refunds
Membership renews automatically each year at the price shown at checkout unless it is cancelled before the renewal date through the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the paid membership year unless Lawward suspends access for breach or misuse.
A professional may request cancellation and a full refund within 14 days of the first purchase by emailing support@lawward.co.uk, provided no introduction has been accepted and no other paid benefit has been used. After that period, fees are non-refundable except for duplicate or incorrect charges, a service Lawward cannot provide, or where the law requires otherwise. Renewal charges follow the same 14-day rule if no paid benefit from the renewed year has been used.
9. Payment and activation
Stripe processes card details, receipts and subscription billing. Lawward does not store full card details. Payment alone does not approve an application. Lawward checks the successful Stripe payment and application reference before enabling paid access. If a payment fails, is reversed or is refunded, the related paid access may be suspended.
10. Acceptable use
You must not scrape the service, circumvent matching or access controls, misuse personal information, impersonate another person, submit malicious code, attempt unauthorised access, contact an enquiry subject using information you were not authorised to receive, or use Lawward unlawfully.
11. Availability and changes
Lawward may change, suspend or withdraw features where reasonably necessary for security, compliance or operation. Material changes affecting an active paid membership will be explained by email. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Complaints
Send a complaint to support@lawward.co.uk with your enquiry or application reference. Lawward will acknowledge it within five business days and aim to provide a substantive response within 20 business days. Complaints about a professional’s legal work, conduct or bill must also follow that professional’s complaints procedure and, where applicable, the relevant regulator or ombudsman route.
13. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights that apply in another part of the United Kingdom. For general enquiries, email hello@lawward.co.uk. For support and billing, email support@lawward.co.uk.
